Doris Janice McAuliff, 83, of Litchfield passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Mason City. Pastor Scott Harvey officiated and burial was at the Litchfield Cemetery.

Doris was born on October 3, 1941 in rural Sherman County to Herschel and Marie (Kohls) Diefenbaugh. She attended school in Litchfield and graduated with the class of 1959. She later attended Kearney State Teachers College. Doris taught high school math and French for several years in the Litchfield. She married Warren McAuliff on January 19, 1963, at the Haven’s Chapel Church. To this marriage a son, Steven was born on March 21, 1983.

Doris was an active member of the Litchfield Cemetery Board.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great pride and joy in her two granddaughters, Lyndsie and Kinzlie McAuliff. She enjoyed sewing and quilt making. Warren joined her in this passion after his retirement and together they made thirty- one quilts.

Surviving relatives include her son, Steve and Danielle McAuliff of Litchfield; grandchildren, Lyndsie and Kinzlie McAuliff of Litchfield; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Sandy) McAuliff of Ravenna and John McAuliff of Overton; and sisterin- law, Glenice McAuliff of Ravenna.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; parents, Herschel and Marie Diefenbaugh; brotherin- law, Doug McAuliff; and sister-in-law, Kristi McAuliff.
