Spurred by the high number of fires dealt with so far this year, Citizens Bank & Trust Co. in Loup City recently instated a donation matching program to help raise funds for the Loup City Volunteer Fire Department.
The local bank will match contributions up to $2,500.
“We have seen…that there has been an uptick in fires since the start of the year,” said Vice President Deb Higgins, who worked to orchestrate the matching program, in an interview on Monday. “We’ve heard from people involved with the fire department that they have…used a large portion of their funding, and we aren’t even halfway through the year.”
